Starting in Fall 2018, AIAA has joined SOAR (STEM Outreach for Academic Reinforcement) Program to participate in STEM-based classroom activities with 5th grade students throughout the academic year. SOAR is a partnership between the Aerospace Museum of California, Community Outreach Academy, and volunteers from Professor Robinson’s lab, HRVIP in the UC Davis MAE department.
The purpose is to encourage members of underrepresented community to pursue STEM by providing role models and mentoring. We also are interested in building a network of volunteers from the STEM related student organization communities and individuals.
Most recent activities include:
- SOAR Kickoff at the Aerospace Museum (Activity stations, icebreakers, and lunch)
- Classroom Activity – Design and Build a Prototype with Community Outreach Academy
