Officer Applications

The UC Davis chapter of the AIAA will begin interviewing for board positions May 20th. All interested parties should send a resume and interview availability for the dates 05/20 – 05/27 to ktmakwana@ucdavis.edu. If interviews extend to the following week, you will be contacted for updated availability information.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is chiefly responsible for handling the financial affairs of the UC Davis AIAA Chapter. This includes working directly with the Chapter Chair and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering to manage purchases. Primary duties include submitting purchase orders, expense reports, budgetary planning, and cost predictions.

Secretary

The Secretary will be chiefly responsible for coordinating communication between the AIAA UC Davis Chapter board and campus members. This includes working with the Media Outreach Officer to ensure that all members are aware of upcoming events and event details. Primary duties include taking minutes at all official organizational meetings, managing organizational document sharing and storage, sending emails to members, and creating media for upcoming events.

Event Coordinator

The Event Coordinator will be chiefly responsible for overall event planning. This includes working with the AIAA UC Davis Chapter board to plan events on campus and with industry, facility reservations, and the actual day-of event management. Primary duties include selecting dates and locations for events, long term event development, and ensuring that all aspects of chapter events are dealt with.

Media Outreach Officer

The Media Outreach Officer will be chiefly responsible for the UC Davis Chapter’s online presence. This includes maintaining the UC Davis AIAA Facebook page and web page.  Primary duties include sharing event information and aerospace news  on the various platforms, creating fliers, and keeping a record of past events.

CAL FIRE Tour

Hello!

Join the AIAA chapter at UC Davis in touring CAL FIRE at the McClellan Airbase in Sacramento! The CAL FIRE Air Program is the premier firefighting aviation program in the world. It’s the largest department owned fleet of aerial firefighting equipment in the world with over 50 fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
Two tours may be held, depending on interest, on Friday May 6th and May 13th. Each tour is limited to 20 people. Please fill out this google form by April 25 to RSVP for the tour. Please note that U.S. Citizenship or clearance is not required and the tour is open to everyone interested. Spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis so please make sure to RSVP! Also, if you are able and willing to drive, please indicate it on the form and we will work out the transportation logistics for the tours.

AIAA Congressional Visits Day

The AIAA 2016 Congressional Visits Day will be held on March 16th at Washington, DC. The event will cover  Key Issues, including maintaining a vibrant workforce, supporting STEM education, and achieving budget stability  that will ultimately help lawmakers understand the importance of aerospace to our nation. CVD2013

AIAA is offering assistance; however, funding requests must be submitted by 31 January. Training webinars for registrants will commence the week of 14 February.

Distinguished Lecture with Daniel Adamo

AIAA at UC Davis will be having a distinguished lecture presented by Daniel R. Adamo on “Questioning the Surface of Mars as the 21st Century’s Ultimate Pioneering Destination in Space”. The presentation will focus on challenging why Mars is accepted as humanity’s “home away from home”.

The lecture will be held on:

Come join us to listen to a compelling and thought provoking lecture from Daniel Adamo, the co-founder of Space Enterprise Institute and a recognized authority in human space flight trajectory design and operations. He is also a retired NASA-Johnson Space Center contractor who has supported 60 Space Shuttle missions and more! See the attached flyer for more details.
All majors are welcome to attend, so feel free to bring any friends who are interested! Space is limited to the first 60 people, so please remember to sign up!

Winter Quarter General Meeting

Sacramento Section will be attending our winter quarter general meeting to provide an overview of what AIAA has to offer. They will also be supplying pizza and drinks!
